Merit’s 8-12 week paid internship program offers a flexible work schedule and averages between 20-30 hours per week.

Marketing Interns at Merit have the unique opportunity to touch almost every aspect of work we do as an agency. Typical assignments don’t exist here. In fact, what’s typical is that you will do something different every day. But if you’re someone who likes examples, we have those, too. Projects might include reporting, analyzing data and research support, task and resource management for project teams, communications, PR and social media support, and day-to-day support and partnership with Account Directors and internal team members to support the development of client strategy.

To succeed in this role, a Marketing Intern must be proactive, detail-oriented, open to learning new skills and jumping in where needed while being able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills are essential.

Research & Strategy
Support with secondary research
Survey set up and analysis
Industry, trend and competitor research
Supporting client strategy development

Communications & PR
Support earned media outreach, coordination and reporting
Influencer/media list development & management
Paid media planning and reporting
Copywriting and content development
External activation partner coordination (paid/earned media)
Social media community monitoring/reporting

Client Experience
Account Management and client communications support alongside Account Director
Management of deliverables, timing and budgets
Coordinate web maintenance requests
Client meeting coordination with Account and Technology team leads
Digital and search program support

Agency Operations
General agency support
Social media channel management
Agency promotion and external marketing

The ideal candidate will be a college junior or senior, or a recent graduate with the following qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications related field
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Highly organized and proactive in nature
  • Collaborate and team-oriented
  • Applicable coursework (prior related internships a plus)
